My Path to Serving You
Originally from Fort Saskatchewan, AB, I moved to Western Manitoba in the spring of 2022. My journey here has taught me that home is not just one place, but that home can be found in the people you surround yourself with. No stranger to change, I have now built a life here with my husband, our one year old daughter, and the approximately 200 cattle that take up much of my family’s time. I understand the challenges (and benefits!) that rural lifestyle brings and the balance that it takes to ensure that everyone’s wellbeing and needs are being met. Outside of my work as a counsellor, I enjoy reading, running, and spending time with my family. On top of our busy farming and work lifestyle, my husband and I are both competitive curlers, and have been fortunate to see some of our wonderful country through this. It doesn’t pass me by how fortunate I am to do this work, and I truly love what I do
Professional Experience
Kelsey graduated from the University of Alberta with her Bachelor of Arts in Recreation, Sport, and Tourism. She worked as a Recreational Therapist at Rehabilitation Hospitals, specializing in stroke and brain injury patients who required physical and emotional support in returning back to work or leisure. In 2019, Kelsey returned to school to obtain her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, ensuring she could better provide psychological support for her clients. Kelsey’s career began in Alberta where she worked in the school system as a Behavioural Therapist for children with special needs - planning accessible programming and ensuring that all children were supported to succeed in any school environment.
In 2022, Kelsey moved to Carberry, Manitoba and began her final placement under Dr. Amy Wendell. Following the completion of her year-long placement, Kelsey stayed at Parkland Psychology as a contract worker and continued to see clients. Alongside Parkland Psychology, Kelsey also works for the Canadian Armed Forces in Shilo where she supports families of the ill, injured, and fallen CAF members.
Kelsey’s approach to counselling begins with meeting the client where they are at. She works with anxiety, depression, perinatal mental health, trauma, and other significant life changes.
